Department of Economic Development looking for new public counsel director

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo — The Missouri Department of Economic Development started the search on Friday for a new director for its Office of Public Counsel.

Marc Poston will serve as acting director until a candidate is selected. Poston has more than two decades of experience in public utility regulation and currently serves as Senior Counsel for the Department’s Division of Energy.

The Office of Public Counsel is Missouri’s consumer advocate in the area of utility regulation, representing the public and the interests of utility customers in proceedings before the Missouri Public Service Commission and in the Courts involving investor-owned utilities.

The new director will play an important role in guiding the Office of Public Counsel as it contributes to Governor Mike Parson’s workforce and infrastructure development priorities.
