Pence to campaign for Hawley in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — U.S. Vice President Mike Pence is set be in Missouri Monday afternoon to campaign for Missouri’s Republican candidate for U.S. Senate.

Pence will be attending a political event for Josh Hawley at the Oasis Hotel and Convention Center in Springfield, Missouri. The “reception-style speaking event” is not open to the public.

Hawley is challenging Democratic Incumbent U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill in what is turning out to be a very competitive race.

A recent Fox News poll showed the two party candidates to be head-to-head, while a CNN poll published last week had McCaskill slightly in the lead but within the margin of error.

U.S. President Donald Trump has backed Hawley, attending three campaign events in the Show-Me State for the sitting Missouri Attorney General. The latest event Trump attended was also in Springfield.

In July, Pence campaigned for Hawley in St. Louis.
