Hired Up! Missouri is HOT

In case you missed it, “Hired Up! Missouri” relaunched Thursday at www.hiredupmissouri.org. The self-proclaimed headhunting service lists job openings in non-profit, government, academia, campaign/advocacy jobs and internships, according to their website. They have a few postings listed and are accepting resumes for review. Seems like a great job resource.

House Bill 253 override efforts are  HOT

Based on vote count numbers in the House  and Rep. Nate Walker discussing in some news outlets his concern with voting for a bill that could damage education funds, we aren’t exactly sure how HB 253 backers plan to secure the veto override, but they’re certainly trying. The Missouri Chamber of Commerce has started running commercials advocating for the bill and promoting Grow Missouri, a PAC that brought in $1.3 million by Rex Sinquefield on Thursday. Whether or not the votes are there, looks like supporters of the tax cut bill are putting up one heck of a fight.

Gov. Jay Nixon isn’t stopping his fight, though.   He will be talking with people in Hannibal Monday morning about the tax cut veto and $200 million prescription drug tax increase.

Where ever this fight goes the next few months, it’s going to be big and expensive.

Cass and St. Louis County are  NOT

The governor vetoed House Bill 650, which had the controversial Doe Run language on it that, everything else aside, could have kept several hundred jobs in his home area, Jefferson County. With the listed counties being the homes of, likely, the next governor — Koster being from Cass and Schweich being from St. Louis — it turns out that having the governor from your county may not be all its cracked up to be.
