Hegeman tapped to lead appropriations committee

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – On Thursday, incoming Missouri Senate President Pro-Tem Dave Schatz announced Sen. Dan Hegeman will be the next chairman of the Missouri Senate Appropriations Committee.

This announcement comes before the start of the 100th General Assembly because budget writers from both the legislative and executive branches begin meeting in early December to forecast state revenue for the upcoming fiscal year. The state constitution requires legislators to pass a balanced budget every year.

“Senator Hegeman brings over a decade of state budget experience to the table,” said Schatz. “I am confident in his ability to lead and to listen—he has earned the trust of his colleagues and will work hard to deliver a balanced budget that reflects Missourians’ priorities.”

Senator Hegeman is a sixth generation family farmer and a graduate of the University of Missouri.
