Auditor Galloway released audit of Audrain County

Report recommends improvements to management of County Collector’s city commissions; report receives overall rating of “good”

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (Dec. 7, 2018) Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway today released a regularly-scheduled audit of Audrain County, located in central Missouri. The report received an overall rating of “good.”

“Our independent review found taxpayer dollars in Audrain County are being used efficiently and appropriately, and I commend officials’ commitment to serving taxpayers,” Auditor Galloway said. “In the few areas that can be improved, the county can maintain high standards on behalf of citizens by implementing the recommendations outlined in the report.”

The audit noted several areas for improvement, including findings to ensure financial oversight of specific funds within the sheriff’s and prosecuting attorney’s offices. The report also recommended changes to the way certain payments to the County Collector are reported for tax purposes.
