JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The American Legislative Exchange Council, or ALEC, recently named a Missouri legislator as Chairman of the Communications and Technology Task Force. Rep. Justin Hill was selected by the organization to lead the committee to develop policy around issues of technology. To that end, Rep. Hill has pre-filed House Bill 218, the “Driving Automation Systems Uniformity Act” in the Missouri House of Representatives. The bill will address issues related to self-driving vehicles, a burgeoning new industry.
“As Chair of this task force, I want to bring legislators together to develop innovative policies that will promote economic growth,” said Hill (R-St. Charles). “We need to ensure that the state of Missouri is in the driver’s seat when it comes to the regulation of autonomous vehicles.”
The American Legislative Exchange Council is America’s largest nonpartisan, voluntary membership organization. Comprised of nearly one-quarter of the country’s state legislators, ALEC is dedicated to the principles of limited government, free markets and federalism.
