This Week in the Governor’s Office: Week of Dec. 17, 2018

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The week for before Christmas, Missouri’s Governor recognized the state highway patrol’s newest trooper class, the achievements of an FFA chapter, and filled the soon-to-be vacant position of state treasurer.

On Wednesday, Gov. Mike Parson tapped House Budget Chair Scott Fitzpatrick as the incoming state treasurer. Current Treasurer Eric Schmitt is slated to take over the Attorney General’s Office when Josh Hawley is sworn in as Missouri’s junior U.S. Senator.

“From the beginning of this administration, it has been a top priority that we strive to provide stability and instill confidence for all Missourians – that we can and will move forward. Missourians will soon have another fully qualified, ready to lead, fiscal conservative managing the Treasurer’s office,” said Parson.

Parson also established the 2020 Complete Count Committee through executive order. The purpose of this committee is to heighten awareness for the 2020 Census and coordinate messaging and community outreach in hard-to-count areas of Missouri.

Parson sat down with part of his Cabinet members on Wednesday.

On Wednesday morning, Parson presented members of the Marshall FFA chapter with a proclamation recognizing their achievement as the 2018 National FFA Model of Excellence winner for the second straight year!

And on Friday, Parson spoke at the graduation of the 106th Recruit Class for the State High Patrol. The newest 27 troopers heard about the importance of public service from Parson and they carry of a nearly nine decade tradition of excellence.
