This Week in the Governor’s Office: Week of Dec. 31, 2018

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri’s Governor was back at work this week after being at Arrowhead Stadium to witness the Kansas City Chiefs claim their 11th American Football Conference – West title.

Kicking of 2019, Gov. Mike Parson discussed budget priorities, attended the swearing-in ceremony of the new attorney general, spent time with the team at the Missouri Department of Labor, and made a judiciary appointment.

Parson sat down with House Speaker Elijah Haahr, House Speaker Pro-Tem John Wiemann, and incoming-House Budget Chair Cody Smith on Wednesday. The meeting was focused on discussing the budget priorities for the session.

On Wednesday, he was on hand for the swearing-in ceremony of Missouri’s 43rd Attorney General. Parson appointed then-Treasurer Eric Schmitt to the position in November following Josh Hawley’s U.S. Senate win.

Parson filled the vacancy on the Clay County Circuit Court on Thursday. He announced that he appointed Associated Judge David Chamberlain to Circuit Judge for Division 4 of the Seventh Judicial Circuit in Clay County.

The governor also visited the Missouri Department of Labor to spend some time with Director Anna Hui and her team.

On Saturday, Parson will be traveling to Columbia, Missouri. He is set to be the keynote speaker for the 51st annual Missouri Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show.
