This Week in the Governor’s Office: Week of Jan. 7, 2019

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Gov. Mike Parson had a busy week between touring departments, hosting a prayer breakfast, the Governor’s Conference on Agriculture, and the 2019 session getting underway.

The 100th General Assembly convened in Jefferson City for the first time this week and it marks the first session with Parson is the Governor’s Mansion. Parson met with the lawmakers and welcomed them to the Capitol during the 2019 Legislative Ball on Wednesday night.

The Governor’s Prayer breakfast kicked off Thursday morning. Due to the federal government shut down, there was a last minute change in guest speakers.

The theme for the breakfast was “God Is In Control.”

Thursday also marked the start of the 48th annual Missouri Governor’s Conference on Agriculture. Parson and Missouri Department of Agriculture Director Chris Chinn were keynote speakers.

More than 80 students purposing post-secondary education depended on the state Capital for a leadership session. The 2019 Missouri Governor’s Student Leadership Forum took place on Friday with student from colleges, universities, and trade schools from across Missouri participating.

Parson kicked off the week in a similar fashion, talking with FFA students. On Monday, he spoke members from the Eldon and Tipton FFA chapters.

Parson also made a variety of appointments this week. He appointed Judge Robin Ransom to the Missouri Court of Appeals Eastern District, David Cole to the Missouri Health Facilities Review Committee, and several others.
