Young Republican makes bid for Secretary of State

ST. LOUIS — The 19-year-old who Chief Operating Officer at Manchester Electrical Contractors is making a bid for to represent Missouri in elected office.

On Tuesday, Dale Manzo announced his candidacy for office of Secretary of State for the state of Missouri in the next election. As a Republican, Manzo is set to face incumbent-Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft during the August 4, 2020, primary election.

Following his successful election to Secretary of State in 2016, Ashcroft filed an amended statement of committee organization transitioning his campaign for re-election in 2020.

Manzo is the Chief Operating Officer at Manchester Electrical Contractors, a company founded by his grandparents about 40-years-ago. In a press release, he said would be the youngest person to ever be elected to a statewide office in the United States at the age of 21 on the day of the 2020 election.

“I believe that my experience working as a small business executive in Missouri has prepared me to create a stronger business environment in Missouri in which our small business owners can thrive and large businesses are attracted to relocate their operations here,” said Manzo.

He noted that should he win election, his priorities will be to grow the state economy and secure Missouri elections.
