Governor Parson proclaims Jan. 20-26 ‘Missouri School Choice Week’

Press release

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Gov. Parson has officially proclaimed Jan. 20-26 as School Choice Week in Missouri. In doing so, he has joined more than a dozen governors and hundreds of city and county leaders nationwide who have officially recognized School Choice Week.

Missouri parents, schools, and other organizers have arranged 763 events and activities across the state. Ranging from rallies and roundtable discussions to festivals and school fairs, the impressive array of events is designed to spark conversations about the educational opportunities parents have, or want to have, for their children.

More than 40,000 events have been independently planned for the week nationwide, raising awareness about opportunity in education.

“We are excited that Missouri parents are so actively drawing attention to the importance of effective education, and we’re grateful to Gov. Parson for supporting them in that,” said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. “We wish Missourians the best in their School Choice Week celebrations and hope all parents find the educational opportunities that best fit their kids’ needs.”

As a nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort, National School Choice Week shines a positive spotlight on effective education options for students, families, and communities around the country. From January 20 through 26, 2019, more than 40,000 independently-planned events will be held in celebration of the Week. For more information, visit www.schoolchoiceweek.com.
