MoCannTrade hosts physician education discussion on medical marijuana

MoCannTrade will present a primer for healthcare professionals on Missouri’s new medical marijuana program

ST. LOUIS – This week, the Missouri Medical Cannabis Trade Association (MoCannTrade) will host a panel of physicians to discuss the release of their primer on medical marijuana tailored for medical professionals. The presentation, which is open to the public, will take place on Thursday, January 24 at the Venture Cafe in St. Louis.

“Missouri’s program can only be successful if physicians and practitioners understand their legal rights and responsibilities, and the medical community is able to share knowledge about the true medicinal benefits of medical marijuana,” said Andrew Mullins, Executive Director of MocCannTrade.

Dr. Kyle Ostrom, M.D and Dr. Trish Hurford, M.D., both board members of MoCannTrade, will lead the presentation on Thursday.

“I became a board member of MoCannTrade to lead opportunities just like this. I’ve seen cannabis be a safe, effective, and compassionate treatment method for a variety of patients and I want to serve as a resource to my fellow practitioners throughout the state to answer their questions and concerns,” said Dr. Trish Hurford.

Over the course of implementation, MoCannTrade will be releasing a number of resources in addition to the primer to help educate the healthcare community on the law and its provisions.

“The MoCannTrade board has members with decades of medical experience who can serve as educational resources for their peers. That is what we are trying to do with this event, to educate the medical community and the public on what Missouri’s medical marijuana program will look like and how patients and doctors can safely, responsibly access this treatment option,” continued Mullins.

The public can attend Thursday’s event at the Venture Cafe in St. Louis, 4240 Duncan Ave, Ste 200, St. Louis, Missouri, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. MoCannTrade is planning a similar event in Kansas City at a later date.
