The Missouri Times hires Ruess as a new reporter

Ruess, a 2012 Webster University graduate, started last week with the paper, and will also be doing part time work for the SEMO Times.

“I’m so excited for the opportunity to work with The Missouri Times,” Ruess said. “I enjoy working at a newspaper with others who are as passionate about reporting as I am.”

During her time at Webster, Ruess won several Society of Professional Journalist Mark of Excellence awards, as well as Missouri College Media Association awards for her reporting and extensive work in photojournalism.

The group she’s joining couldn’t be more pleased.

“I met Brittany at a [Society of Professional Journalists] conference earlier in the year and she is just so professional and passionate about what she does,” Executive Editor Ashley Jost said. “We’re starting week number two and she already has interviewed the Secretary of the State, so it goes without saying we’re pretty excited to have her.”

Ruess will be working out of St. Louis during the coming months, covering events, writing features and whatever else comes about as the next legislative session approaches.

“Working at The Missouri Times, I’m able to report stories that matter because what the leaders in St. Louis, Jefferson City and all across the state have such an impact on the lives of the Missouri people,” she said.
