This Week in the PSC: May 9, 2019

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Union Electric Company doing business as Ameren Missouri got the green light from the Public Service Commission (PSC) this week to lower a fuel and purchased power adjustment charge while increasing an energy efficiency charge.

With the fuel and purchased power adjustment charge (FAC) taking effect on May 24, residential customers are expected to see refunds increase from $0.19 per month to $1.76, according to the commission.

However, the Energy Efficiency Investment Charge (EEIC) will increase from about $0.54 per month to $4.58. This change goes into effect on May 25.

The increase in the EEIC, which is supposed to incentivize utility companies to implement energy efficiency programs, is the result of already approved programs under the Missouri Energy Efficiency Investment Act, according to a PSC press release.

The FAC tariff needs to be adjusted often in order to coincide with volatility in fuel pricing a company has incurred, according to the PSC.

The PSC will hold its next agenda meeting on May 15 at 9:30 a.m.
