Department of Social Services launches new, simplified website design

Press release

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. —The Department of Social Services’ home page now has a new look to help the public better connect to the information and services they need. The website redesign focuses on simplicity, customer experience, and direct access to frequently requested information.

“The Department of Social Services is always looking for ways to improve the overall experience of the citizens we serve and the community partners we work with each day,” said Jennifer Tidball, Acting Director, Department of Social Services. “We have great services and resources to help families in need and it’s important that Missourians can easily find and access this information.”

This update also includes a visual overhaul on the department’s county quick facts that features updated statistical information about Missourians receiving services. The interactive map allows you to sort by topic of interest, narrow in on a county, and compare the number of individuals served by county across the state.

“We’ve tapped into new ways to display data that the public should find incredibly helpful,” said Michele Renkemeyer, Strategic Performance and Innovations Unit Director. “It’s one thing to offer charts and numbers, it’s totally different to be able to visually compare and focus on a particular area of interest. We are dedicated to transparency and this enhanced feature allows us to not only share data, but share it in a way that’s easy to read and understand and meaningful to the user.”

The update also highlights other exciting changes, which include:

· A Department of Social Services Calendar of Events that provides information and details about all of the department’s upcoming events, meetings and important deadlines
· A revamped news and alerts page that highlights important department announcements and news

· Quick and easy access to our social media accounts, videos and podcasts which will offer additional information and guidance on many topics
· A featured section on how to report a concern, such as child abuse or suspected fraud
