Jason Davidson announces candidacy for HD 48

Press release

NEW FRANKLIN, Mo.- Jason Davidson, a Republican, has announced his candidacy for the Missouri House of Representatives in the 48th district, currently represented by Rep. Dave Muntzel, who is term-limited.

Davidson says he was motivated to run for office to fight back against what he sees as “bullies”, who have weaponized government against ordinary people.

“I was bullied heavily in school, and I believe that the biggest bullies are in the government. I want to stand up against those who use regulations, taxes, and unjust laws to bully and harass ordinary people like myself and the people of my district, and work toward creating a government that truly represents our Missouri values of liberty and justice for all”.

Davidson considers himself to be a Conservative with some libertarian tendencies, and has been involved in the Tea Party movement, as well as the newly-formed Republican Liberty Caucus of Missouri. He believes the most important issue facing his district is restrictions on the usage of property passed by county governments, and believes that passing strong property rights protections at the state level will resolve this problem.

“Some individuals use the county government to pass restrictions on their own neighbors, and what they do with their property. It is important that the state pass strong protections for property rights”.

Davidson also believes that tax reform should be a top priority of the General Assembly, and wants to work toward the eventual abolition of the personal property tax. He is unapologetically pro-life and a gun rights advocate, believes that Civil Asset Forfeiture should be reformed, and supports bipartisan criminal justice reform and drug law reform efforts.

“Too many Missourians are going to jail and having their lives ruined over nonviolent offenses. This is a perfect example of bullying by the government, and it is unacceptable” He explained. “Something has to change, and I believe I can work with both parties to make that happen.”

Davidson works as a school bus driver in Boonville, and resides in New Franklin. While this is his first time running for a state office, he isn’t new to politics. He ran unsuccessfully for Howard County Commissioner in 2012, and served on the town council of Moffat, Colorado before moving to Missouri in 2010.

The primary will be held on August 4th, 2020 and the general election on November 3rd, 2020. The 48th district includes parts of Howard, Cooper, Pettis, Saline, Randolph and Chariton counties. Davidson has retained Jasper Logan and Dakota Worrell to manage his campaign. More information can be found at JasonDavidsonMO.nationbuilder.com and facebook.com/JasonDavidsonMo.
