Chris Brown, teacher and business owner in the Northland, makes bid for Missouri House

Chris Brown is looking to represent the Kansas City Northland in the Missouri House. The lifelong educator and small-business owner is making a bid for HD 16, a seat currently held by term-limited Rep. Noel Shull.

“I’m grateful for Representative Shull’s service through the years. He has been a great advocate for the community,” Brown said. “Now, I want to keep government accountable with taxpayer dollars and to protect the rights of the people. I want the people to know that I am running to be their representative to promote the interests of our community and in pursuit of accountable leadership.”

For 32 years, Brown has been a teacher of U.S. history and Advanced Placement government and politics and has coached football and wrestling for 10 years. In addition to his teaching career, he is a licensed real estate agent and co-owns a real estate business.

“I have been teaching government and history for decades, and what I have always told my students is that in our republic, it is the responsibility of the people to keep government accountable,” Brown said. “If normal people do not do their part to demand change, then progress is stagnated. As an educator, husband, and father, I want to ensure that future generations grow up in a state filled with opportunity.”

Addressing spending priorities, economic development, and quality education top his legislative agenda. Brown is running as a Republican.

“I think so much of what happens in government starts with the budget and spending priorities. I believe we need to ensure that our spending priorities and goals for our state line up,” Brown said. “Additionally, as a small-business owner, I think we should be doing more to incentivize business growth and to cut taxes and regulations to help grow the economy. Finally, as a lifelong educator, I want to see our schools fully funded and supported to empower Missouri students and to help them achieve a quality education.”

Brown attended Benedictine College where he played football for four years, earning his B.A. in social studies and a minor in education and then earning his Masters of Arts in educational administration.

In his spare time, Brown enjoys golfing, boating, and fishing. He can be seen rooting for the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs while also keeping up with Benedictine College football.

He has retained Axiom Strategies to serve as consultants on his campaign.
