Herzog Contracting donates $250K to Parson PAC

Herzog Contracting Corporation has donated $250,000 to Uniting Missouri PAC in support of Gov. Mike Parson’s gubernatorial campaign. Notably, the late Republican megadonor Stan Herzog and his corporation were major contributors to embattled former Gov. Eric Greitens.

Herzog was a massive GOP donor who gave heavily to Greitens, Parson’s predecessor who resigned in disgrace in 2018. Herzog Contracting, a rail and construction company, donated $650,000 directly to Greitens in 2016 after the Republican primary for governor.

Greitens has been rumored to be considering launching a come-back bid for governor against Parson.

The Uniting Missouri donation was reported on Sept. 9.

“We are extremely grateful to receive the support of so many Missourians on this day that Gov. Parson announced his intention to seek election as our governor,” John Hancock, chairman of the Uniting Missouri PAC, told The Missouri Times. “We have received profound support from across Missouri and from the broadest cross-section of Republican donors imaginable. Our campaign is off to a fantastic start!”

Parson made his candidacy to remain Missouri’s chief executive official on Sunday with a rally in his hometown of Bolivar. State Auditor Nicole Galloway is challenging Parson for the office from the other side of the aisle; Republican state Rep. Jim Neely has also launched a longshot primary challenge to Parson.

Uniting Missouri PAC had more than $2.8 million cash on hand reported in the July filing expenditures. But several large donations have been made since the last filing deadline: Rivertown Enterprises, Rightchoice Managed Care, and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas City have all donated $25,000; Ketchmark & McCreight PC and William Darr contributed $50,000; and CL PAC pitched in $75,000.

Parson’s campaign account had about $1.15 million as of the July quarter filing.

Herzog died in August at the age of 70.
