Flotron & McIntosh adds Gaskin to lobbying team

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — John Gaskin III has joined government relations firm Flotron & McIntosh. The firm — with Franc Flotron and Richard McIntosh as founding principals — added the former St. Louis County NAACP president as an associate on Sept. 19.

John Gaskin III has joined Flotron & McIntosh (PROVIDED).

“Joining Flotron & McIntosh is a tremendous opportunity to work alongside some of the most dedicated and competent professionals in government relations. The firm’s diversity, experience, and relationships across the state are a tremendous asset,” Gaskin said. “I am looking forward to utilizing my experience and abilities to make a positive difference in this new role.”

Of his new associate, McIntosh said: “We are excited to broaden our team and to have fresh perspectives in the representation of our clients at the capitol.”

The strategic government relations firm, based in Jefferson City, boasts such clients as World Wide Technology, Missouri Police Chiefs Association, The Remi Group, and Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, among dozens of other businesses and organizations.

Gaskin has experience with not-for-profits, state government, and organizational leadership.

The 26-year-old got his start in public policy and state government under former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander, where he served as deputy director for Governmental Relations and Business Development. He then transitioned to the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership where he worked as a project manager.

In November 2018, Gaskin was elected president of the St. Louis County branch of the NAACP — the youngest ever to be selected to the position. He spearheaded a campaign in the fall of 2018 that doubled the membership of the branch — a feat that was recognized at the 2019 NAACP National Convention.

Gaskin faced scrutiny when the St. Louis County NAACP came out in favor of a few controversial topics earlier this year. The organization, with Gaskin at the helm, backed efforts to merge St. Louis city and county and changes to the state’s Title IX program. The local chapter backed Gaskin when the national organization stepped in.

Gaskin is a graduate of Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, where he majored in political science. He is the recipient of multiple awards including The Missouri Times’ 30 Under 30 and Top 100 Influencers, St. Louis Business Journal’s Diverse Business Leaders Award, and the Delux Power 100 award.
