Gov. Mike Parson garnered another endorsement Wednesday: the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s political action committee.
“Gov. Mike Parson is truly a champion for Missouri. He came into office during a turbulent time and brought stability to our state. Under his leadership, Missouri’s economy is growing, and we are headed in the right direction,” Daniel P. Mehan, president and CEO of the Chamber, said.
Parson is running for his first full term as governor after taking over in June 2018 following the resignation of former Gov. Eric Greitens. He faces state Auditor Nicole Galloway, a Democrat, in the 2020 election.
State Rep. Jim Neely is challenging Parson in the Republican primary.
In the endorsement, Mehan applauded Parson for his support for a variety of workforce development and transportation proposals. He said the governor “has kept Missouri laser-focused on the issues that matter most to our future.”
The Chamber’s endorsement comes as no surprise. Earlier this year, it honored Parson with its first ever Business Champion Award as well as named him “Man in the Arena,” its highest gubernatorial recognition.
“Gov. Parson is the leader Missouri needs right now,” Mehan said. “It’s no secret that our state is facing its share of challenges, and the Missouri Chamber is actively engaged in these discussions. But we are very hopeful about where we are headed with Gov. Parson leading our state.”
Parson said he was “grateful” to receive the endorsement.
The governor has also received endorsements from Missouri Right to Life PAC, the Missouri Farm Bureau, and a bevy of agriculture groups, along with a majority of Republican lawmakers in the state.
The Chamber endorsed Greitens, also a Republican, in 2016.
