Jost departs to join the Columbia Daily Tribune

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Executive Editor Ashley Jost is leaving The Missouri Times Oct. 30 to start as a temporary city government reporter for the Columbia Daily Tribune.

“I’m beyond excited to say that I should be starting with the Columbia Daily Tribune by the end of next week!” Jost tweeted last week as her official announcement of job change.

Jost largely has led the 10-month-old media organization’s efforts in a brand, web and print redesign as well as other editorial functions during her time with the paper.

“From the day she began working with us, everyone could see her talent and dedication to her craft was special,” Scott Faughn, publisher and owner of The Missouri Times, says. “Any success The Missouri Times has is largely do to her efforts. I am so excited for her in her new position working with the Tribune and I personally can’t wait to see the success I know she will have in her career.”

During her tenure at The Missouri Times, Jost worked on implementing editing systems, maintaining the website, creating interactive social media accounts and the previously mentioned design changes.

“Ashley is one of the best young journalists I’ve ever met,” Collin Reischman, lead reporter for The Missouri Times, says. “Her hard work and considerable talent helped The Missouri Times achieve early success. Her kindness and poise as well as her personal and professional drive are going to make her an incredibly successful person.”

Jost says she is grateful for the opportunity to learn how the legislative process works and the chance to meet the people within the process that allow it to function.

“I’m grateful for the sources I have developed who have been so patient with me as I have learned the processes and the people,” Jost says. “I am so glad I had the chance to work with the people I have these last several months and I look forward to the next chapter.”

The Missouri Times plans to announce a new editor early next month.

“I am so grateful to Ashley for working with us to try and make the transition of her leaving as seamless as possible,” Faughn says. “She honestly cares about our readers and has spent a great deal of time working with our staff so our readers notice as little change as possible. We are currently interviewing candidates to fill the position, but no one can replace Ashley’s contribution to our company.”
