Round 2 of the Whispering Gallery Invitational ended today with the adjournment of the House. Results and the voting link for Round 3 are below. Who is going to be one step closer to winning the #BarklageCup. Other than bragging rights, do not forget the amazing prize package: autographed door poster of Jeff Mazur, a $5 gift certificate to Bones, and to become an honorary coach on the championship legislative softball tournament team

King of All Media

#8 Eil Yokley
#5 Jo Mannies
After knocking off #1 Tony Messenger in the last round, Yokley will have to continue bringing his A-game when he squares off against the dean of the Missouri press corps – the beloved Jo Mannies. On paper, Yokley has an advantage in Twitter and Facebook followers, but we feel its a mistake to underestimate the hardest working woman in Missouri show business.

#3 Mark Reardon
#2 Jason Rosenbaum
Can anything stop Rosenbaumamania? Reardon will have to bring all 50,000 watts KMOX has and likely summon the strength of Bob Hyland, Harry Carry, Bob Costas, Joe Garagiola, Mike Shannon, Carol Daniels, and of course, the great Jack Buck in order to advance. Sort of a Wrestlemania 6 redux. The question heard at the Capitol today was not where the right to work vote was, but whatcha gonna do Mark Readron when Rosenbaumania runs wild on you?

Political Hacks Region

#1 Jane Dueker
#13 Megan Shackelford
This match should be held in a steel cage on an abandoned Wal-Mart lot. These two ladies of the left are a bracketologist’s dream and we can only hope for carnage and personal insults deluxe in this main event. Gladiators vs. labor, brunette vs. blonde, a twenty something vs……well another twenty something. This one will be a highlight and well-embodies the term “Sweet 16″.

#13 Sarah Felts
#2 Richard Callow
After tight 2nd round match up,s two social media pros got at it. Our question is whether Felts can withstand the personal attacks Mazur leveled against her to mount a challenge against Callow. Further, will the op research file Mazur developed in the last round be enough to end the Cinderella quest of Felts? One must think that whatever Mazur was able uncover will pale in comparison to Callow’s legendary machine.

MissourAH Region

#8 Barry Aycock
#4 Caleb Jones
Aycock has torn through Southeast Missouri – defeating both Crowell and Kinder, but he will have his work cut out for him against Jones. We hear Aycock is planning a trip to the Capitol to personally stump for votes, but many are betting that he has already played his Superbowl and is out of steam up against a tough #4 seed. However, look for Aycock to attempt to check Jones back into the Hotel California (MissourAH) where he can check out anytime he likes….but those boots he sports prove you can never really leave.

#6 Caleb Rowden
#2 Chris Kelly
Some are calling this the Columbian Civil War and rightly so. Kelly has been on a  run branding his opponents as liberals, but he will have a tough time with the only Columbian legislator potentially more liberal than he in Rowden. Several ways to look at this one: if it comes down to hair – advantage Rowden, if it comes down to ability to embarrass people on the House floor – advantage Kelly. This one will be too close to call in this Columbian street fight.

MissourEE Region

#8 Robert Cornejo
#5 Jeff Smith
Cornejo has stopped at nothing to reach the Sweet 16, defeating MissourEEians on both sides of the state, but now has to face off against a man who has his own documentary featuring Jo Mannies, Dave Drebes, and Sylvester Brown. Fortunately for Smith, this isn’t a football tryout or he would be toast against the former captain of the Wash U football squad. Fortunately for Conejo, this isn’t a basketball tryout, as he would be toast against the former senator with the mean crossover. We have heard that Cornejo may follow up the strategically planned birth of his child last week by adopting several children from Sally Struthers to overcome Smith.

#13 Tishaura Jones
#10 Eric Schmitt
This match-up proves the seeding committee has a drinking problem. Jones is coming off a big win with one of the funniest campaign ads in recent memory, while Schmitt has won two inter-county fights to advance to the Sweet 16. Look for Schmitt to attempt to remind voters about his roots in North County, while Jones can tout her experience in the House. It will be an interesting match up for those watching the city/county merger talks. Can a St. Louis City candidate campaign peacefully against a St. Louis County candidate? We believe the Senator from the 15th should pay those parking tickets before campaigning gets underway and we aren’t trying to start any trouble, but we have heard reports that the Kack Haslag poor selection of a Missouri Times portrait could have resulted in Tisharua picking up the support of former senator and Missouri Times neighbor Mike Gibbons. It will be a long off season in Room 320 if that mistake comes back to haunt Schmitt.
