JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – United States Senator Roy Blunt spoke in the House chamber on Tuesday regarding the struggles of legislating, calling on the legislature to focus on progress and not stubbornness.
“How many things do we hope to get done that may or may not get done? I didn’t serve in the legislature here, but I have served in the legislature for awhile and I will say that there are no perfect bills,” said Senator Blunt.
The Senator lightened the mood when he said, “I have introduced a couple of perfect bills.”
He continued, “It’s never quite as perfect and quite as easy as we would like it to be.”
Blunt addressed the Republican caucus before speaking to the House. His visits to the General Assembly have become an annual occurrence since he took office in 2010, replacing Kit Bond.
The author previously volunteered and interned for Senator Blunt’s 2010 campaign and office.
