Andrew County Collector Phil Rogers declares candidacy to replace term-limited Rep. Delus Johnson

Phil Rogers, a Republican from Andrew County, has announced his intent to replace term-limited Rep. Delus Johnson. The district encompasses all of Andrew County and the eastern portion of Buchanan County.

Rogers has a rich history in the Northwest corner of Missouri. As a young boy, his family lived in St. Joseph before moving to Andrew County where they had a 120-acre farm. “Growing up, I helped out on our family farm, where we raised cattle, pigs, sheep, and horses. From a very young age, my parents instilled family values and the importance of a strong work ethic. Those early experiences helped shape the conservative values I hold dear today.”

No stranger to hard work, Phil cut his teeth working as a field appraiser in the county assessor’s office before earning his Public Administration certification from the University of Missouri- St. Louis- all while working full-time as the county collector. Additionally, Rogers has experience in the private sector, where he worked in the retail industry.

Rogers said, “Two of my siblings are currently small business owners and my wife and I were partners of a small retail store in St. Joseph. Due to these experiences, I am acutely aware that small businesses are truly the backbone of our economy. If elected, I will work to ensure we approach tax policy in a way that allows small businesses to get ahead and succeed.”

Phil has been married to his wife Dana for 28 years and together they have two children. Kaitlin is a sophomore at Northwest Missouri State University majoring in Radiology and Luke is in the 4th grade in the Savannah R-3 District.

Currently, Rogers is finishing his third term as the Andrew County Collector, a position he has held since 2006, which has brought him invaluable experience working with the public.

Rogers presently serves as the 3rd Vice President of the Missouri Association of Counties and is actively involved with the Andrew County Republicans. He also served as the past president of both the Missouri County Collectors Association and Main Street Savannah.

Rogers said, “This election should be about sending someone to Jefferson City that will best represent Andrew and Buchanan Counties and our beliefs and values.”

Rogers has retained Axiom Strategies to consult on his campaign.
