Danforth endorses Parson for lt. governor

SAINT LOUIS – Former U.S. Senator Jack Danforth has announced his endorsement of Mike Parson for lt. governor.

“Mike has my endorsement because I am impressed with his record of public service,” said Senator Danforth. “He has been a tireless voice for our state, working to stand up for taxpayers, defend agriculture, and fight for our economy.  Mike is a man of honor and integrity, and he understands the issues that are truly important to Missourians.  I know that he will make a great lieutenant governor.”

Danforth a former Missouri Attorney General, U.S. Senator and Ambassador to the United Nations, was very outspoken after the death of Tom Schweich earlier this year. Parson took to the senate floor giving one of the more memorable floor speeches of the session discussing negative politics and sharing many of the themes Danforth had expressed.

Parson was quick to tout the endorsement.

“Jack Danforth is a role model for public servants across the nation, and for good reason – during his time in the Senate and as an Ambassador, he served honorably and always worked to represent the interests of the people he served,” Parson said. “wEven after leaving office, he has continued to serve the public, working in support of many charitable and civic causes.  I am deeply honored to have his endorsement.”

Recently Danforth was joined by Warren Erdman and Harvey Tettlebaum in hosting a fundraising event in Kansas City. Parson ended the last fundraising quarter with over $900,000 on hand.

His primary opponent, former Club for Growth Chairman Bev Randles, has $784,ooo on hand. Two Democrats have filed: Dr. Brad Bradshaw of Springfield and Rep. Tommie Pierson (D-St. Louis County).
