Ed Lewis announces candidacy for state representative of Linn, Macon, Randolph counties

Long-time teacher Ed Lewis has announced his candidacy for State Representative for House District 6, comprised of Macon and Randolph Counties and part of Linn County. The seat is currently held by Tim Remole, who is term-limited and cannot run again.

“I appreciate the years Tim Remole has served as our state representative,” said Lewis. “He has been an effective leader for our district and I want to see a like-minded conservative leader for Macon, Randolph and Linn County. As a state representative, my voting record on issues will be very similar to that of Rep. Remole. I will try to be a clear voice for our communities in Jefferson City. Our rural communities need a strong advocate who places the needs of our people first.”

Lewis, a lifelong resident of Missouri, earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Mizzou in 1987 and his Master’s Degree in Analytical Chemistry from Pittsburg State University in 1992. Ed has been an educator for over 30 years, teaching High School Chemistry and Physics. He is currently teaching and is Science Department Chair at Moberly High School. For 25 years has also been a part-time teacher at Central Christian College of the Bible. Ed coaches Tennis at Moberly High School and coached Volleyball at CCCB.

Ed and his wife of 34 years, Sarah, have 4 adult children who all graduated from local schools. He is also a proud grandfather of one grandchild, Zyla. Ed and his wife attend Timberlake Christian Church in Moberly, where Ed actively serves as an Elder. He has also been a volunteer Christian youth leader and church camp leader and speaker.

“My faith is important to me and my family,” said Ed, “it affects every aspect of my life and affects the way I look at the world and my community. My faith tells me I must serve those in my community. In our rural communities, faith is still strong, and I intend to protect our way of life and promote our shared values and beliefs. I will protect our freedom of religion, our gun rights, and the right to life for the unborn.”

Speaking on his legislative agenda, Ed highlighted the need for education reform, investment in infrastructure, and the need to promote economic development, “As a teacher and parent, I want to see that every Missouri student receives a quality education. This may mean that we need to look into reforming our educational system. I want to help ensure prosperity for our region. We have to make sure that our region is getting equal investment to help maintain vibrant industries. This means ensuring we have good roads and bridges, especially in rural areas. Finally, we have to keep taxes and regulations low so we can help create businesses and create jobs.”

Ed has retained Axiom Strategies to serve as consultants on his campaign.
