House Democrats elect Rep. Ingrid Burnett as caucus chair

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.  – The Missouri House Democratic Caucus on Tuesday elected state Rep. Ingrid Burnett of Kansas City as caucus chair, the fourth-ranking position in Democratic Caucus leadership.

Burnett is in serving her second House term and represents the 19th District, which includes part of Kansas City, Sugar Creek and Independence. She replaces state Rep. Tommie Pierson Jr. of St. Louis, who vacated the position of caucus chair after being elevated to assistant House minority leader last month.

“I’m excited to join this dynamic leadership team as we move into the 2020 session and election cycle,” Burnett said. “It’s time to get to work.”
