JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The 2020 Christmas tree was installed on the Governor’s Mansion lawn Monday morning, the first step of the holiday celebration in the capital city.
This year’s tree is a 40-foot Norway spruce donated by Doris Baker of Desloge, who donated the tree after it became too large for her yard. The tree was installed by workers from the Office of Administration, who lowered it over the fence from Madison Street.
A 17-foot Norway spruce and a 10-foot white pine from Pea Ridge Forest in Hermann were installed inside the mansion by Department of Conservation staff.
The lighting of the exterior Christmas tree is scheduled for Friday at 6 p.m. Candlelight tours will run until 8 that evening and again from Dec. 7-9. Due to COVID-19, tours will be available by reservation this year.
Cameron Gerber studied journalism at Lincoln University. Prior to Lincoln, he earned an associate’s degree from State Fair Community College. Cameron is a native of Eldon, Missouri.
