PHOTOS: Eclipse at the Capitol

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – At the Jefferson City Capitol building, over 500 people sojourned to the solar event of the decade. Families from every place under the sun – from Texas, Arkansas, to Wisconsin – came with picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and eclipse ready sunglasses. The army band played patriotic ballads and several songs from Star Wars. Missouri Governor Eric Greitens welcomed the travelers to the capitol. For 2 minutes 29 seconds, the sun eclipsed the moon. In that moment, viewers cheered, fireworks burst, and the starts came out. In that moment, we were humbled by our celestial bodies.
