PSC OPENS CASE TO INVESTIGATE

SOLAR REBATE PAYMENT COMPLIANCE

JEFFERSON CITY—The Missouri Public Service Commission has opened a case based upon a motion filed by the Public Service Commission Staff to investigate the compliance of Kansas City Power & Light Company, KCP&L- Greater Missouri Operations Company and Ameren Missouri with Commission rules regarding solar rebate payment to retail account holders.

In the PSC Staff motion, Staff indicated it has been responding to informal complaints and other correspondence from retail account holders and solar generation installers regarding the Commission’s 30-day requirement for solar rebate payment.   In its motion, the PSC Staff said it plans to request information not only from the electric company, but also from retail account holders that have installed solar generation systems interconnected with the electric systems of Kansas City Power & Light Company, KCP&L-Greater Missouri Operations Company and Ameren Missouri, as well as the related solar generation installers.

The Commission has directed the PSC Staff to file either its final report or a status report regarding its investigation no later than October 6, 2014.
