As House and Senate leadership continue to announce interim committees and appoint chairs and members, The Missouri Times will update this document to reflect those changes.

Senate Interim Committees

Senate Interim Committee on Capital Improvement Assessment and Planning (announced June 18)

  • – Purpose: To gather input on State Capital improvement needs and compile a report by Dec. 1.
  • – What leadership said: “We want to study the needs across the state including parks, mental health facilities, state buildings and higher education facilities. The interim committee will be able to do a cost benefit analysis of the proposed projects to help us prioritize those needs and leverage private support.” — Senate President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles
  • – Chair: Sen. David Pearce, R-Johnson County
  • – Vice-Chair: Has not been announced
  • – Members: Specific senators have not been announced, but the release states the committee will have five Republican members and two Democrat members.

Interim Committee on Medicaid Transformation and Reform (announced May 30)

  • – Purpose: To study options Missouri has when it comes to Medicaid reform and take an in-depth look at what other states are doing
  • – What leadership said: “We need to do what’s best for our state. The interim committee will be able take a good look at Missouri’s Medicaid program and see what ideas to improve efficiency and delivery can be implemented here at home.” – Senate President Pro Tem Tom Dempsey, R-St. Charles County

  • – Purpose: Discuss ways to improve educational outcomes for Missouri young people.

House Interim Committee to Develop Suggestions to Augment Missouri’s Agriculture Industry (announced June 24)

  • – Purpose: To assess the current state of agriculture in Missouri and develop policy recommendations that will promote the continued growth of the farming industry.
  • – What leadership said: “I want Reps. Guernsey and Reiboldt to take a closer look at some of the issues impacting our dairy industry, as well as some of the infrastructure needs our state will have to meet in order move our agricultural products to new markets.   • – Purpose: The two groups will work together to develop legislative proposals that have the potential to make positive transformative changes to the state’s Medicaid system.
  • – What leadership said: “I encourage all Missourians to contact my office with any suggestions they have for members. Whether it is a doctor they know or a community leader who they feel will make a valuable contribution to the Medicaid discussion, I hope they will share their suggestions so we can make this a productive think tank for developing effective solutions.” — House Speaker Tim Jones, R-Eureka
