JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Public Service Commission (PSC) granted a limited rehearing in a case involving Spire Inc. at its weekly agenda meeting Thursday.
The case stems from Spire’s applications to change its infrastructure system replacement surcharge rates in its east and west territories in Missouri. According to the PSC’s order, staff initially erroneously converted the wrong net property tax amounts that were then used for the natural gas distribution company’s case.
The commission granted a limited rehearing and set a procedural conference for August 9.
Additionally, the PSC suspended a tariff sheet from Union Electric Company doing business as Ameren Missouri. The tariff sheets, filed earlier this month, sought to decrease the gross annual electric revenues by about $800,000, the commission said.
“Given the number of parties involved and the discussions at the procedural conference, the tariff effective date allows insufficient time for the Commission to determine whether the tariff is just and reasonable, as the law requires, so the Commission will suspend the tariff,” the PSC said in its notice.
Ameren requested a moratorium be placed on the new rates until April 1, 2020. But the commission noted it could not conduct a full hearing on the tariff in just 120 days, so it extended the suspension by six months (May 30).
The tariffs had an effective date of August 2.
The PSC has scheduled its next weekly agenda meeting for July 31 at 9:30 a.m.
