This Week in the PSC: July 31, 2019

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Public Service Commission (PSC) approved a territorial agreement this week granting Ozark Electric Cooperative exclusive service in parts of Christian County.

The agreement between Ozark Electric and Empire District Electric Company — a Joplin-based company providing service in the city of Ozark — was unanimously approved by the commission. The PSC noted the cooperative had already been servicing an area within the county, and it made more sense for it to continue to provide electricity to a specific area.

Additionally, the PSC addressed a complaint staff filed against Airnex Communications in March for failing to file a 2017 annual report. It approved a motion for default judgment and granted the PSC’s counsel authority to seek penalties.

Airnex has seven days from approval of the order to respond.

The PSC also approved a procedure schedule from Kansas City Power and Light Company (KCP&L) regarding a special incremental load rate for a steel production facility in Sedalia. The procedural schedule includes an evidentiary hearing in October.

The next PSC agenda meeting is scheduled for August 7.
