This Week in the PSC: June 12, 2019

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri’s Public Service Commission (PSC) has given its stamp of approval for the addition of two new members to the Relay Missouri Advisory Committee while also granting a motion to seek judgment against a telecommunications company.

During its weekly agenda meeting Wednesday morning, the PSC approved an order appointing Adonis Brown to a three-year hearing position and Marc Poston to one of the six permanent spots as public counsel on the Relay Missouri Advisory Committee. Part of the PSC, the committee assists with Dual Party Relay Services (DPRS), which help hearing- or speech-impaired individuals.

Additionally, the commission approved a staff motion seeking default judgment and penalties in court against Netwolves Network Services, LLC. The telecommunications company has failed to file its 2017 annual report and has not responded to complaints sent by the PSC.

In approving the motion, the PSC gave Netwolves Network Services until June 19 to file a motion to set aside the order.

The commission also approved an order dismissing a rate approval request from the Missouri Network Alliance doing business as Bluebird Network. A staff report said the commission has no authority to establish rates for Bluebird, which “intends to provide only broadband services to healthcare advisors.”

The approved order requests the company comply with the terms of the commission’s regulations and file a notice with its change of name. Commissioners noted Bluebird has not yet responded to PSC staff’s recommendation.
