TWMP: Schmitt, veto session and Koster’s NRA endorsement

On Sunday’s episode of This Week in Missouri Politics, longtime friend of the show Sen. Eric Schmitt joins host Scott Faughn to talk about his race for state treasurer. He speaks about his endorsement from the National Rifle Association, the 15th anniversary of 9/11, and his focus on why President Barack Obama’s controversial Iran deal matters in his race. They also go over the veto session’s gun bill and his fight against what he calls “taxation by citation” by some municipalities.

On the opinion maker panel, Faughn welcomes Executive Secretary-Treasurer Jeff Aboussie of the St. Louis Building Trades, Executive Director Robert Knodell of the House Republican Campaign Committee, Mark Dalton of the Carpenters’ Union and Rep. Gina Mitten, D-St. Louis. They discuss Koster’s endorsement from the National Rifle Association, and his lead in The Missouri Times’ first statewide poll. They also discuss Greitens’ attempts to coalesce the Missouri Republican Party despite a spat with Senate President Ron Richard, and the coming veto session and the gun bill.

TWMP will air at 11:00 a.m. in the St. Louis area on ABC 30 KDNL and in mid-Missouri on KRCG at 6:00 a.m. The show and Overtime are available online at 11:00 a.m. at twmp.tv.
