Release: Koster Campaign Letter Calls on Stations To Take Down False Greitens Ad

St. Louis – Today, the Koster campaign issued a letter to all radio stations to desist in airing Eric Greitens’ false radio ad claiming Hillary Clinton donated to the Koster campaign. The Greitens’ radio ad falsely states that “Hillary just gave [Chris Koster] $500,000 more.”  In fact, Hillary Clinton gave nothing to Chris Koster.  Neither Hillary Clinton personally nor her campaign committee, Hillary for America, have made any contributions to Chris Koster’s campaign Koster for Missouri.

Under FCC regulations, the Greitens ad is not entitled to FCC protection for making false statements because it is not a “use” – there is no positive appearance by Greitens in the ad. The letter sent to stations today from Koster for Missouri’s lawyer is attached to this release.

Campaign spokesman David Turner issued the following statement:

“Eric Greitens problems with the truth have been well-documented this campaign. He claimed to do work in Bosnia when he was in Croatia. He told reporters he would release his tax returns and now refuses to unveil conflicts of interest. And he stated he knew who the donors were behind his nearly $2 million contribution when in reality it was a shell organization designed to hide his contributor. His latest feather in his cap is a false radio attack ad that does not comply with FCC regulations.

“Eric Greitens is, without question, the biggest hypocrite to run for office in Missouri history.”
