The Super Bowl was Sunday and the very next day the Missouri Senate went into preseason mode with a six-hour session where the starters barely played and the outcome was never in doubt.

Session began with members of the new and improved Washington ran conservative caucus now with House members saying they are not going to just kill things and attack their fellow Republicans…..well that’s pretty much exactly what went down for 12 hours today.
This afternoon, Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer announced his retirement. He is a great Missourah statesman, and it will be just nigh impossible to replace him.
Tomorrow the Speaker and the Pro Tem will open their chambers for legislative business.

It looks like the field is set. A three way race for Governor on the republican side and a two way primary on the democrats side.
It was made clear that both of their bills rural jobs and a property tax cut had to pass before anything of substance was going to move.
After two days of grindingly slow legislative progress, the senate finally came to a complete stop today as Senator Bill Eigel finally took to the floor.
This will be a defining moment for Bailey. If he is able to win this case and assist a new prosecutor in establishing a competent office he will have the gratitude of the St. Louis business community, legal community, and become a folk hero to the suburbs.
