Jefferson City, MO – On Wednesday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m., hundreds of Missourians and organizations from across the state will “Stand with Missouri Women” at a rally at the Missouri Capitol. Participants call on legislators to uphold the veto of the extreme bill (HB 1307) that triples the state’s existing mandatory waiting period for a woman seeking an abortion.

WHAT: Stand With Missouri Women rally at the Capitol

WHEN: Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.

WHERE: Missouri Capitol – South Lawn of the Capitol near the Jefferson Steps

WHO: Concerned Missourians, Sen. Jolie Justus, Sen. Scott Sifton, Sen. Paul LaVota, Rep. Jill Schupp, Rep. Michael Butler, Rep. Stacey Newman, Rabbi Susan Talve, Central Reform Congregation, and Rev. Becky Turner, Faith Aloud

The rally has been organized by a broad coalition of organizations include the ACLU of Missouri, Catholics for Choice, Central Reform Congregation, Faith Aloud, Missouri NOW, Missouri Women United, NARAL Pro-Choice Missouri, National Council of Jewish Women – St. Louis Section, National Women’s Political Caucus, Planned Parenthood Advocates in Missouri, Progress Missouri, PROMO, Missouri Progressive Vote Coalition, and Women’s Voices Raised for Social Justice.

Missourians are tired of legislators playing politics with women’s health while not taking action on important legislation like Medicaid expansion. Personal medical decisions should be left to a woman, her family, her faith, and her doctor — without interference from extremists in the Capitol.
