Robert Kenney departs from Missouri PSC

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Public Service Commission said goodbye to the chair of its committee during a meeting Wednesday.

Robert P. Kenney, who has served on the commission since 2009 and served as its chair since 2013, attended his final agenda meeting as a member of the PSC.

“It’s really been a joy and a pleasure,” Kenney said at the end of the meeting. “I don’t know how many agenda meetings there have been but each on has been fun and challenging and rewarding, and I wish everyone the best in their future endeavors.”

In honor of Kenney, who always wears a bow tie as his neckwear of choice, the four other commissioners also wore bow ties.

Kenney will be replaced by Maida Coleman.

In terms of official work, the PSC revised some of its own rules and passed tariffs and new orders approving Renewable Energy Standard RES Compliance plans and reports for 2015 from the Kansas City Power & Light Company, Ameren Missouri and the Empire District Electric Company.

They also passed an order directing utilities companies to respond to questions about security practices. The questions are designed to discover if utilities are appropriately using their security resources to protect themselves from both physical and cyber-based attacks.
