Brunner donates $3.6M to gubernatorial campaign

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – John Brunner, Republican candidate for governor, made a donation to the tune of over $3.6 million to his gubernatorial campaign on New Year’s Eve.

The donation came in three separate contributions: $3 million, $600,603.77, and $35,000.00. Thursday’s contribution total is $3,635,603.77.

The campaign said $600,000 donation was to match donors, the $3 million was additional investment from the candidate, and the $30,000 was for campaign materials.

Missourians for John Brunner Communications Director Michael Hafner issued the following statement on the contributions:

“Today we want to make it very clear and reinforce to Missourians that John Brunner is the only candidate for Governor who cannot be bought or owned by special interests.

“John and Jan Brunner are proud to make this commitment to our supporters. Our campaign will continue to stand with so many Missourians who are ready to elect an authentic, life-long conservative leader with competence battle-tested in the crucible of experience as a CEO and US Marine.

“Our campaign has utilized the last eight months to build invaluable relationships among Republican grassroots leaders throughout Missouri, and we have invested resources to build a world-class digital and data-driven campaign operation to communicate John’s pro-jobs pro-wage growth vision for turning our state around. John’s investment today marks the beginning of the next phase in our campaign. We are excited and energized as our team continues this mission into the New Year, and as we have said from the beginning, our campaign will have the resources necessary to be successful in 2016.”

Brunner, the former CEO of Vi-Jon and candidate for U.S. Senate, reported $256,562.86 on hand in October.
