Executive council considers locations for National Register

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (MACHP) will consider nominations to the National Register of Historic Places during its quarterly meeting at 9 a.m., Friday, Feb. 19 in the LaCharrette Conference Room in the Lewis and Clark State Office Building located at 1101 Riverside Drive in Jefferson City.

Four districts and eight individual property nominations are scheduled to be considered for listing in the National Register.

The list includes the following commercial, residential, and institutional properties and districts from all corners of the state.

  • Gratiot School, 1615 Hampton Avenue, St. Louis
  • Union Cemetery, 227 East 28th Terrace, Kansas City, Jackson County
  • Traders National Bank Building, 1125 Grand Boulevard, Kansas City, Jackson County
  • Campbell-Continental Baking Co. Building, 1108 East 30th Street, Kansas City, Jackson County
  • Murdock, C.A., Manufacturing Co. Building, 1223-1225 Union Ave., (Railroad Related Historic Commercial and Industrial Resources in Kansas City, Missouri MPDF) Kansas City, Jackson County
  • Trail of Tears Roadbed Segment on Josiah Danforth Farm, Address Restricted, (Cherokee Trail of Tears in Missouri, 1837-1839 MPDF) Strafford vicinity, Greene County
  • McMurtry Spring and Trail of Tears Roadbed Segment, Address Restricted, (Cherokee Trail of Tears in Missouri, 1837-1839 MPDF) Cassville, Barry County
  • Garnett Farm Historic District, 7119 Hwy 179, Centertown vicinity, Cole County
  • Ilasco Historic District, 10998 Ilasco Trail, Hannibal vicinity, Ralls County
  • Perry County Courthouse, 15 West Ste. Maries Street, Perryville, Perry County

MACHP is a 12-member group of historians, architects, archaeologists and citizens with an interest in historic preservation appointed by the Governor. Approved nominations are forwarded to the Keeper of the National Register in Washington, D.C., for final approval.
