Capitol Masquerade Ball raises nearly $150,000 for charity

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The organizers of a masquerade ball held at the Capitol last December found the event raised nearly $150,000 for charity after expenses.

Caring for Missouri said after expenses, the Capitol Masquerade Ball, hosted by Missouri’s two U.S. Senators Claire McCaskill and Roy Blunt, garnered $142,949.44 for the Missouri State Capitol Commission (MSCC), the Missouri Association for Community Action (MACA) and the Missouri Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (MCADSV).

“Although our three organizations have distinct causes, our care for Missouri unites us,” said MSCC chair Dana Rademan Miller in a statement. “It was great to see so many come together at the event to celebrate and support our state’s past, present and future.”

The event hosted over 450 people and raised funds via auctions as well as admission to attend. High-ranking state officials attended the event, and many co-hosted the event.

The MSCC, MACA and MCADSV will split the money raised. The MSCC will use its portion to maintain art in the Capitol and expand the Veterans Memorial, MACA will use funds to provide training and technical service to the state’s nonprofit Community Action Agencies, and MCADSV will use funds to assist member programs that work to help victims of domestic and sexual violence.
