Trump staffs up in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Donald Trump’s presidential campaign moved into Missouri on Monday, with the announcement of an office and campaign staff in the state.

Aaron Willard was named Missouri State Director while Todd Abrajano was named Missouri Communications Director.

“Our campaign is focused on winning Missouri, and is reaching out to Republicans, Independents and disaffected Democrats to accomplish that goal,” Willard said in a statement. “Missouri voters recognize that Hillary Clinton represents a third Obama term, while the Trump-Pence campaign of tougher law enforcement, stopping illegal immigration and bringing back jobs is resonating strongly across the state.”

Willard has recently served as Sen. Ryan Silvey’s chief of staff and ran U.S. Rep. Ann Wagner’s first campaign for congress. Abrajano recently consulted for the Bev Randles campaign for lieutenant governor.

Republican Mitt Romney won Missouri by 10 percentage points in 2012, but recent polling shows a closer race this year.

Democratic-leaning pollster Public Policy Polling showed Trump with a 10 point lead last month but that gap had narrowed to three by this month. Other polls showed Trump with leads varying from 2 points this month to 10 points. A Mason-Dixon poll conducted last month showed Democrat Hillary Clinton with a one point lead.

Trump’s Missouri office will be located at located at 105 E. High Street in Jefferson City.
