Farm Bureau releases State Fair straw poll results

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Farm Bureau released the results of their traditional election year State Fair straw poll Thursday. The poll asked fair attendees who they would vote for on the Nov. 8 ballot for U.S. Senate, governor, lt. governor, attorney general and whether they supported the continuation of the 1/10th cent state parks and soil and water conservation sales tax.

The Farm Bureau first conducted the straw poll in 1980, which has been 70 percent accurate in predicting November results.

Below is the percentage breakdown of the 5,198 ballots cast in the straw poll:

U. S. Senate

  • Jason Kander – 37%
  • Roy Blunt – 63%

Governor

  • Chris Koster – 50.3%
  • Eric Greitens – 49.7%

Lieutenant Governor

  • Russ Carnahan – 35%
  • Mike Parson – 65%

Attorney General

  • Teresa Hensley – 34%
  • Josh Hawley – 66%

Do you support renewal of the 1/10ȼ Parks and Soils Sales Tax

  • Yes – 71%
  • No – 29%

The poll did not ask who attendees would vote for in the races for secretary of state and treasurer.
