JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – As the legislative draws near, the next Speaker Pro Tem has named his chief of staff.
State Rep. Elijah Haahr, R-Springfield, has hired Phillip Arnzen to serve as his chief of staff.
The Leopold, Mo. native comes to Haahr’s staff after serving on a number of Republican campaigns, most recently working as the campaign manager for Rick Stream’s Senate bid in the 2016 election and on Kurt Schaefer’s bid for the attorney general’s seat. He has also worked as a legislative assistant for Rep. Craig Redmon, and most recently, Arnzen was employed as the Eastern Missouri Regional Director for Missourians for Fair Taxation.
“Phillip’s experience in messaging and policy development will be a valuable asset to my office and for our entire caucus as we lead our state forward in 2017,” Haahr said in a news release.
Arnzen earned a Bachelor of Science in personal financial planning from University of Missouri – Columbia. He is also a former president of the University of Missouri College Republicans and statewide chairman of the Missouri Federation of College Republicans.
Benjamin Peters was a reporter for The Missouri Times and Missouri Times Magazine and also produced the #MoLeg Podcast. He joined The Missouri Times in 2016 after working as a sports editor and TV news producer in mid-Missouri. Benjamin is a graduate of Missouri State University in Springfield.
