Walsh, Skelton share visions for Missouri in candidate forum

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The race to fill the seat vacated by former state Representative Caleb Jones features two strong women seeking to become the next freshman to join the Missouri House.

Democrat Michela Skelton and Republican Sara Walsh on Wednesday evening sat down together to take part in a candidate forum, sponsored by the Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

Both candidates spoke of the importance of continuing to build the economy and bringing more jobs to the Show-Me State, as well as reducing the costs on taxpayers.

The two candidates talked about tax cuts and the recommendations made by the Governor’s Committee for Simple, Fair and Low Taxes.

They also spoke about the University of Missouri, and what could be done to improve the lives of all of their potential constituents and local businesses in Boone, Cole, Cooper, and Moniteau County.

The special election takes place on August 8.
