JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Campaign for Accountability (CFA), a public accountability group based in Washington, has called for an investigation into whether Paul Mouton has violated Missouri lobbying laws. Mouton is a political consultant for David Humphreys, the president and CEO of Tamko Building Products and a major donor to pro-union Missouri Republican campaigns.
The Missouri Ethics Commission fined Mouton $200 earlier this week for illegal lobbying practices as he was unregistered and failed to file regular lobbying disclosure reports.
According to Daniel Stevens, the Executive Director of the CFA, his punishment is not enough and believes he should be charged with a criminal offense.
“The Missouri Ethics Commission barely slapped Paul Mouton on the wrist for what appears to be a flagrant violation of state law,” Stevens said. “A mere $200 fine is close to meaningless.”
