During the past several weeks, schools in the St. Louis area have grappled with the issue of students in unaccredited schools transferring to accredited schools. In the midst of all the chaos that has surrounded this issue, it is hoped that this is the seminal moment that will bring all parties involved to the table to craft a sensible solution to these problems that have existed for decades. This would include not only the schools but reformers, unions, education associations and those in state government. It seems that finally the focus has turned to students and what is best for them rather than the adults involved. If this has truly happened, this headache being experienced now by all involved will have been the key to every child in Missouri having access to a quality education. That should be the goal of all of us.
