Staff Profile: Lisa Buhr

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – Right now Lisa Buhr, LA for Rep. Michael Frame, D-Eureka, is living the dream.

“This is my dream job, its so awesome to see the wheels of government in motion,” she said

This mother of three finds herself with a full plate as she also is a student at Columbia College, as a political science major, and is minoring in history.PIC

Buhr, who has been working for Frame since last May, has worked with the state for 15 years, with both the professional registration and Department of Labor. Labor is the standout issue for Buhr who spent her time with the department working in prevailing wage outreach.

“Pay check deception, prevailing wage, and right to work are all issues I’m passionate about,”  Buhr said.

As for how she got her current position Buhr said, “When Michael lost his election in 2010, he got a job as a workers’ comp investigator, and thats when he met me and thought I was such a great worker he wanted to bring me back.”

In her personal time, Buhr enjoys bowling and listening to musical artists like Elvis Presley and The Beatles.  Buhr even named one of her sons after a well known Beatles song, “Hey Jude.”

Upon finishing her degree, Buhr would like to pursue a career in labor.

“I am hoping that maybe once I get my degree I can go into a career with labor, labor is my passion” Buhr said.
