Release: Missouri School Administrators Endorse Chris Koster

Jefferson City, Missouri (October 6, 2016)  The Missouri Association of School Administrators (MASA) announced today its endorsement of Chris Koster for Governor in 2016. MASA represents more than 900 Missouri public school superintendents and central office administrators.

Aaron Zalis, MASA President, said, “We believe that Chris Koster is the right choice to lead Missouri. Chief among Chris Koster’s priorities is providing the funding needed to give Missouri public schoolchildren the opportunities they need to be successful. His support to fully fund the state formula is critical to the health of our public schools.”

Attorney General Koster stated, “I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Missouri Association of School Administrators, which represents some of our state’s finest educators. I look forward to working with the MASA to ensure that every student in Missouri receives the quality education they deserve. As governor, I will fight to provide teachers with the resources they need to do their job as effectively as possible. The Missouri Association of School Administrators and I agree that the students we educate today are the state’s talent pool of tomorrow. Investing in our schools now will benefit our entire state long into the future.”

Beyond the public school funding formula, Chris Koster supports quality early childhood education, improving the quality of teaching and paying educators accordingly, and giving schools more flexibility to meet the needs of their students.

Roger Kurtz, MASA Executive Director, said, “We need a Governor who will stand up for public education and the children of this state. It is imperative Missouri has a Governor who places a high priority on public education. We believe that Chris Koster is the right person to lead our state.”

The Missouri Association of School Administrators is the statewide association of public school superintendents and central office administrators. MASA develops and supports effective public school leaders who positively impact the lives of Missouri students.
